We’re working on manners right now with my 3 year-old. Of course, this morning, instead of saying “excuse me” so I’d get out of her way. she bent over and farted on me. While I was impressed, we need to work a little more on the manners.

Just this past weekend I erased the “earn points for doing X” chart and decided each child would work on a skill – a life skill – in order to earn their coveted points. The ideas are plentiful. Table manners for my messy 7 yr old. Learning to think beyond ourselves and say something nice to someone in the family each day. No yelling but using words to express our frustrations for my 5 yr old. Finally my little guy (2 yrs old) it is food is to be eaten not thrown across the table and to learn to please go to sleep on your own in your own bed at naptime. Mommy needs an hour to breathe.
