This lip balm is super moisturizing and helps chapped lips. It only has 3 ingredients, 4 if you add a flavoring oil. You’ll be surprised by how easy it is to make lip balm. Coconut oil absorbs into the layers of the skin, healing dry lips. You can find the ingredients and lip balm containers here.
3 teaspoons virgin coconut oil
3 teaspoons almond oil
3 teaspoons grated beeswax
½ teaspoon flavor oil (I used vanilla)
Put the first 3 ingredients into a small glass bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir until beeswax is melted. If not fully melted, microwave again for 30 seconds. Stir in flavor oil and mix gently.
Pour the mixture into clean containers and let cool completely. For the lip balm tubes, I used a small funnel when filling. The above recipe gave me enough of the lip balm mixture for a ½ ounce container and two lip balm tubes. Enjoy!
*Skin care tip: Virgin coconut oil has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce skin inflammation such as eczema, stretch marks, and wrinkles. Apply a small amount to the affected area twice a day on clean skin.
*Tip: Virgin coconut oil comes from fresh coconut flesh and retains several of the important nutrients compared to regular coconut oil.
