Summer Makeup Recommendations

Summer is officially here. We just got back from a family weekend at The Montage Laguna Beach. There was lots of fun in the sun, not-to-be missed walks on the beach, and poolside lunches. I highly recommend applying sunblock—before going outside—to yourself first and then the kids and loves ones (if they let you). Even if it’s breezy, the sun can burn those areas of exposed skin untouched by sunscreen. The bright red stripes and blotches were a testament to how well the sunblock actually worked.

It’s lightweight, water resistant (40 minutes), fragrance free and easy to apply. Some of the spray-on sun blocks like Neutrogena are great too and easy to use on kids.

Mascara in colors other than black are fun to wear. A turquoise pencil under your lower lash line, a peachy blush on your cheeks and tinted lip balm all complement a healthy summer glow. Try pencils from MAC, Patti Prema for Costco or Urban Decay. La Prairie makes a gorgeous Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in peach.

If my glow gets too shiny I like to use a fluffy brush with a powder foundation like Chanel’s or MAC Studio Fix lightly applied after blotting skin with some oil absorbing blot papers. Clinique and MAC both make easy-to-use & store blot papers.
