I got to spend a couple hours talking to two fabulous women, Jen and Barb, who created the website www.jenandbarbmomlife.com and wrote a wonderful book, The Mothers of Reinvention about life after kids. The topic of our interview: What Kind of Life Skills are You Teaching Your Kids? I had the best time, learned and laughed a lot. I also added a bunch of life skills to the list of what I want to teach my girls, because I definitely fall into the category of doing too much for my kids. To be honest I realize I am a bit of a Helicopter Mom – hovering over them and trying to make everything perfect. So here is to nurturing competent, self sufficient kids, or at least trying to.
