Favorite Things: MySkipper

I have a confession to make. I still have a “thing” for dolls. My family moved seven times in ten years, so dolls were the perfect toys to collect. They were lightweight, durable, and made every strange city feel like home. But since I’ve been collecting them for so long, it’s now rare for one to catch my eye.

When I stumbled upon Mariella Bowman’s MySkipper dolls, I found myself wanting ALL of them. I asked my husband to hide my wallet before returning to peruse her site further. Too bad I have one of my credit card numbers memorized. Sigh.

My daughter, Cal, wears glasses and when she spotted a MySkipper doll sporting a miniature pair of handmade glasses, she immediately called dibs. “That one’s mine because it’s just like me.” I adore Mariella’s dolls because they’re beautifully crafted and each one is unique and fun in its own way.

Mariella is also open to CUSTOM ORDERS. She created a Tupac doll as a tribute to my favorite rapper. When I opened the package, I found Tupac, complete with a gold chain and “Thug Life” tattooed across its stomach. She totally got it right.

MySkipper is regularly updated with new dolls, but Mariella is currently taking custom orders for the holiday season until December 10.
