Cinnamon & Sugar Waffles

According to social media and a quick google check, Elf was premiered 15 years ago yesterday. On Christmas morning, surrounded by all your little elves, I can’t think of a recipe more fitting than these Cinnamon & Sugar Waffles. After all, an Elf’s favorite food is sugar. And syrup is part of their four main food groups. Too quote Buddy The Elf, which he stated 15 years ago for the first time yesterday, “We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.” You can’t go wrong with cinnamon and sugar (in the title) and a big squeeze of syrup. Ok, I can think of one tiny little thing to make them better, bacon. I don’t know about you but I love bacon and sausage covered in syrup. I like to make bacon or sausage sandwiches with my pancakes and waffles. Believe it or not I am the only one out of the five of us. Maybe I’m part Elf as well.

Add the dry ingredients to a large bowl, flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. Combine well.

Stir in the milk, eggs, vanilla, and butter. Mix well until all combined.

Grease a preheated waffle iron, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the iron. Shut the lid and wait for the green light.

Serve immediately topped with butter and syrup.
